  • Diagnosis and Management (both medical and surgical) of the following conditions:
Commonly known as near-sightedness, far-sightedness and astigmatism – refractive errors can be corrected with prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses. We fit all spectrum of contact lenses including disposables, daily throw-aways, toric contact lenses for patients with astigmatism and even multifocal contact lenses for those patients who desire less dependence on glasses for reading.
We have the ability to diagnose, culture (if needed) and promptly treat cornea infections, abrasions and erosions both medically and surgically.
We perform sutureless cataract surgery using the latest Ozil phacoemulsification technology. We customize intraocular lenses and also offer toric intraocular lenses to correct astigmatism when appropriate. Additionally, for patients who are strongly motivated to minimize use of reading glasses, we offer “modified monovision” at no additional cost which has recently been shown to be as effective (and in some ways superior) to multifocal intraocular lenses. Our office is equipped with a YAG laser which is used to clear off “scar tissue” that can occur after intraocular lens placement. Having had extensive laser training in our medical residencies, we have the experience to judge when use of YAG laser is appropriate as well as the proper training and expertise to safely and accurately use the laser.
We have the expertise and advanced technology to diagnose and treat patients with macular degeneration and appropriately refer to a retina specialist when further treatment, such as laser or injection, is needed.
Each of our doctors has expertise to manage patients with a wide range of glaucoma diagnoses: from those who are called “suspects” to the patient with advanced disease. Our doctors are thoroughly trained in the medical management of glaucoma (drops and pills when needed). We are also one of the few clinics in town that has the capability of treating glaucoma with SLT laser. We work closely with the glaucoma specialists when glaucoma surgery is needed. Our office also offers automated visual fields as well as Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), both of which are used to objectively evaluate and monitor any changes in vision due to glaucoma.
We have the proper training and expertise to remove almost all eyelid growths/lesions in the office in our minor procedure room. Additionally, Dr. Moore has training in oculoplastics and perfoms surgery on various problems including malposition of the eyelids such as entropion and ectropion. Dr. Moore also has vast experience in blepharoplasty (surgical correction of droopy eyelids due to excess skin or dermatochalasis) for both visual rehab and cosmesis. Both Drs. Moore and Wentworth also perform Botox injections for blepharospasms (excessive twitching of the muscles around the eyes).
Each of our doctors has the ability to assess whether or not various ocular tissues are being significantly affected by abnormal blood sugars. Additionally, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) of the retina can be used to evaluate for changes related to diabetes, especially macula edema (swelling). We work closely with several retina specialists in the area and a referral can be made promptly. We will also report all findings from the examination to the patient’s preferred physician.
Dr. Moore has trained at a Level I trauma center and has extensive experience in the management and surgery of injuries to the eye and surrounding structures. His surgical expertise includes: eye laceration repair, eyelid laceration repair, management of chemical burns, removal of foreign bodies in the eye, management/treatment of hyphema (bleeding inside the eye), and recommendations regarding orbital fractures.
Dr.’s Moore and Jackson gladly provide eye care to children of all ages. Each performs school vision screening exams, and has the expertise to evaluate for amblyopia, strabismus, nasolacrimal duct obstructions and other eyelid disorders (including ptosis). Dr. Moore performs nasolacrimal probing to correct nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Additionally, Dr.’s Moore and Jackson work closely with strabismus specialists if eye muscle surgery is deemed necessary.
Dr. Moore is the only fellowship-trained LASIK surgeon in South-Central Kentucky.
